Immunology, be it research or teaching, is an important topic in Basel (Switzerland), Freiburg (Germany) and Strasbourg (France).

As a consequence of many individual interactions, the Freiburg, Basel and Strasbourg immunology communities have founded the Upper Rhine Immunology Group (URI group), in order to foster their ongoing interactions and to stimulate further collaborations. With a close networking between the universities and non-university institutions we hope to boost immunological research and teaching activities in the border triangle of Germany, Switzerland and France. In 2019 Karlsruhe (Germany) joined the URI group.
